Hey guys, I'm new to this forum!

Anyway, I just bought a new house and I'm planning on putting some home automation within the house itself. I'm really interested in security and lights. Anyone mind giving me some tips on these:

What kind of automation is good for lights?

I want an automated door lock, that I can unlock from outside the house.

I want the lights to turn on when I come to the house, is this possible?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Well to start off, we might need a bit of information from you...

1. Do you have any automation already? Hubs, or controllers?

2. What is your budget like? Are you trying to go cheaper?

Well, it really depends on how much money and time you want to spend setting it up, you know? Home automation is one of those things you should plan out, and then continue with once you have a nice build that you'll keep.

1. Are you looking for cheap lighting or does it matter at all?

2. Maybe Quikset or Schladge?

3. You'll need motion detectors, or a door sensor to activate the lights based on motion.

Post here with your budget and stuff of that sort.
